Slab City Video

For those that have asked about the slabs, here is a good video on the realities of it, rather than the idealistic vision of the "free" and wonderful place.

(Warning..contains a few bad words)

take an extra hour or so and continue on the Quartzsite or the other BLM areas..

Just my brief impression of the place..your opinion my vary

Gina could not agree more! Pulled in there one day and pulled out just as fast. Glad I did as I ended up finding a nice little park called Lake Cahulla Co Park near La quinta - which had a nice little man made lake and in the middle of many PGA golf courses

Wow, now I know where Mel Gibson got all his ideas for his post-apocalyptic "Mad Max" movies. To quote Bette Davis..."What a dump!"

A lot more than meth to scare you at Slab City! How about getting in the hot springs with a body that has been in there for 14 hours or more & no one noticed

Bit of the demi-monde there. I don't think those are nomads but I bet the local govt. wishes they were. Sure ain't Sunday School but I got a kick from the beer delivery scooter.

I have not been there but did hear about it some years ago. It is not quite as bad as it seems. I've read there are communities within communities there. For example there is a Canadian area where Canadians look out for each other. There are a few people providing services like water delivery.

If I hit the lotto, I'd hire someone with a backhoe to clean up the garbage out there and bury it.

While I still think it is a cheesy place to live, the libertarian in me like the fact city exists that cost nothing to live in.

My preference would be to seek a more beautiful spot in a boat without the low life's.

Slab city money

Couldnt watch the whole video so may have missed info about where these people get their money to buy food , beer and things like the cooler on wheels and their trailers.
Looks like they also need a recycle dumpster there.
Not interested in camping there!

I think most are telecommuters with Fortune 500 companies, maybe a few day traders, others just living off investments.
