Scamp camper $2,800 OBO -- We bought this camper three years ago and now need a larger camper.
Scamps are made of two molded
fiberglass pieces that are glued together. I believe the
Scamp weighs less than 1000lbs. I know one person can easily pull it around and it can be pulled by even the smallest of cars.
There is an onboard
battery that charges as it is being towed down the road and provides electricity if not at a camp site. There is also a
propane tank to provide heat and to cook with. There is also an onboard fresh water tank. These and the portable toilet make the camper self sufficient without the need for a camp site.
After we bought it, we took out the two front bunkbeds (Yes, we kept them and the mounting hardware) and replaced them with a closet and bathroom (The $100 portable toilet goes with the Scamp). We also took out the two facing bench seats and "Kitchen" table in the back (Yes, we kept them and the mounting hardware) and replaced them with a 6.5 foot long couch, all the way across the back, that makes out into a bed.
Admittedly, except for the wheel bearings (Which we had packed at Fargo Tire) we have not taken the best care of the camper and it could use some small repairs and TLC hence the low price. We don't know if the heater or stove works as we did not use them (Again, the lowered price!). We did use the
fridge and the sink and they work just fine. We have not used it this year as we purchased a Hi Lo camper. So, the last time it was used was
fall of 2010 and at that time, it did not leak. Even if it had, as as previously stated, there are no studs to rot. Almost everything is either aluminum or
fiberglass.
