Hello,
My name is Angela Hobart, I am emailing you regarding the camper (1973 ECO Travel Trailer)that I have for sale.
The camper is in perfect condition , with no need for additional repairs, no scratches, dings, special marks whatsoever, never been involved in any accidents. I have a clear and clean title for it , no liens or loans ready to be signed and notarized on your name Ö
Iím selling my sonís camper , who died in Iraq two months ago and I want to get rid of it asap because the sight of it makes me think of him often and often and the pain is too great . Put yourself in my shoes and youíll do the same (selling the camper of your dead son, no offence) !!!
As you probably noticed , the final price that i want for this camper is $1900 if you will buy it today or tomorrow .
Let me know where are you located........................................... ..

Here's my response hoping I can narrow these (just let me say "NOT" human beings) down......(wish I could use curse words) ...

Angela..

CONSIDER IT SOLD......I'm a vet and located in North Alabama and just let me say I'm VERY sorry for your son's death and I can't imagine the grief you must be under at the present time.......I have 3 chrildren and can't for the life of me imagine the lost you must be feeling........... if you need more time I can understand that fully..I'm very much interested in your camper and would really like to purchase it if possible..As far as the price consider it sold.....Can I get your phone number so we can work out the payment..............
..Thanks Randy

Now lets see if they will answer...the greedy turds......to tell the truth I'm willing to offer $2200.00 ......Hell I'm willing to offer ever more......If no response by tomorrow evening I'm going to offer $3300.00 ..who knows before it's over might even go as much as $10,000 on the sucked....

While I cannot in any manner whatever condone illegal activities, I must confess that it has crossed my mind that there must be SOME way to turn it around and extract a charitable donation from these sociopaths

I'm about ready to set the hook...got this today from the scam artist....They are a real piece of crap.....

Hello again,

Please let me explain to you the process of this transaction and you can decide if you want to proceed or not.
As I told you in my first email, I recently lost my son. I also got a new job and moved to Omaha,Nebraska in order to start over. I'm in Omaha but my presence won't be necessary because I prearranged the deal with Amazon. The trailer is in Omaha at the shipping company, ready to be delivered. The deal includes free delivery and it will arrive at your address in 3 days. You will have 5 days to test and inspect the trailer prior to making any purchase and if by any reason you find something you don't like about it you can send it back on my expense. If you want to make this deal I need the following details from you: full name, address, and phone#.
Once I have your info I will forward them to Amazon to get things started.Amazon will contact you shortly after they have the details with all the information that you need to complete the payment and you will also have proof that I am covered by them as a legitimate seller. I tried to cover all the details you may need.Waiting for your email with the requested details.I really need to sell it asap.Hope you understand.

Thank you

Here's what I sent.....still dangling the bait...........

Angela....

Can I get your phone number before I send all this information I'd like to talk to you about the camper....Can I get some pictures of the bottom and frame of the camper just to know its in good shape after all it was built in 1972...Some of these had issues with the frame and there was a recall back then and alot were repaired and some were not and unless you know just where to look there's no way to know if it was repaired back then.I've owned a few of these in the past and 2 had been repaired and 1 was not....

I had some fun a few weeks ago - I had a car for sale and "they" wanted to send me the $$$$ via paypal and have "their driver" come pick it up. My payment was guaranteed by Paypal of course.

So I pointed out that since they obviously had the $$$$ available I'd happily proceed. Since they HAVE the $$$$ (to pay Paypal) - just give the $$$$ to your "driver" and when he, in turn, hands me the cash, I'll hand the car over. Cash only. No checks, no money orders, no drafts.

Funny - never heard from them again!

I wonder if maybe they weren't quite so eager to proceed after all?

I mean - the lady who wanted to buy it sight unseen could not be there in person because she was:

A) A blackjack dealer on a cruise ship
In hiding from her abusive husband
C) Out of the country tending to her sick mother
D) Attending a course in Easter Europe
E) Undergoing Chemotherapy for her breast cancer
F) Making arrangements for her daughter's funeral or wedding or.....

A friend of mine was looking at a pop-top VW camper.
The same exact wording in his ad.
One would think there would be away to track these people.

I'm sure most of them are based outside of the US. Makes tracking them down and dealing with them much harder. Just pick a country which has descended into a state of lawless anarchy and you can operate with impunity.

I honestly don't advise doing this sort of thing and it strikes me as the work of people with WAY too much time on their hands - but... Some people do enjoy baiting the scammers and documenting the exchanges:
