Both auctions have been pulled so I'd say your scam sniffer is working just fine...

*******************SCAM ALERT****************************

For the heck of it, I emailed the E-Bay People from yesterday's 2002 Casita "Auction"-and I got an Email back, just in case anyone wants to see how they "Do It"!! These Guys are Pretty Careless, I would say-even though I asked about the Casita the Scam email came back with this header:
************************* *************************

RE: Bigfoot Trailer for Sale

Dear Possible Buyer,

I want to be honest with you and I inform you that i've stopped the auction
because i have 2 buyers interested in this unit , they are willing to pay the buy
it now price .To be fair with all possible buyers I will sell the trailer to the
first buyer that will arrange the Square Trade payment .If you are able to make
the payment today or tomorrow you will be the next owner of this camper.First I
will like to tell you that I'm married in Norwich,UK and the unit is in
Square Trade's custody in US,I've agreed with eBay Square Trade to send
my trailer to its warehouse since I am not in US .
The trailer is like new , in perfect condition .The reason for selling we have
this trailer from my father in law who died 5 months ago, i will sell it for this
prices because the shipping to Europe will cost me to much and we don't have
time to loose to take few dollars extra. The Buy it now price is $ 3900 (shipping
& handling included). I will sell the trailer to the first one who agree with
my terms and is able to make 2000$ deposit payment in max.72 hrs.
TERMS - SHIPPING & HANDLING:
The vehicle will be shipped through Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS). Shipment will be started as soon as i have the payment confirmation from SquareTrade. For US citizens DAS is able to deliver the trailer in max.5 working days.
The trailer is ready for shipment, the title is clear and is already back signed!
PAYMENT:
We will use eBay Square Trade as a third party .They will keep your money until
you get the vehicle and will release it to me upon delivery and inspection. You have to know that I've deposited 8800 $ in my SquareTrade account,so in this way you are fully covered in this transaction by my protection account.
REFUND POLICY :
After the vehicle arrives, you have a 7 days period for inspection. If the trailer
is different than the way I've described it, 100% refund - transfer fees and
the trailer will be shipped back to the warehouse on my expense. Anyway, i don't
think it will be necessary, you'll love this trailer from very first moment
you'll see it.
Buy with confidence!
Thanks for the conceded time .
I am looking forward to your reply.

Ebay again has a Casita listed at a wonderful price. No location listed. When user contacted, state they are in England and will ship the trailer from a US warehouse. If you want to view the unit, they won't tell you where it is. This is a known scam. Ebay makes it impossible to contact a security source to investigate the sale. Buyer beware!

We have sold many things on Craigslist. We always try to be as honest as possible with the description and the pictures. We recently bought a 2004 21ft Bigfoot Trailer off Craigslist. Sold today a 1975 25ft Airstream on Craigslist. All the transactions went very smoothly. It is easier to be honest and fair in your dealings.

Hi,My name is Allan Robertson and I am selling a 2005 Casita Spirit Deluxe 17Ft.The trailer was purchased new and I am the original owner, it has always been very well maintained and winterized with very little use.I am willing to sell it for a lower price than usual because I have recently got a promotion at my work and I had to move with my family in Europe. I gota new home in Netherlands, Amsterdam. I couldn't ship the trailer here as I found out that the cost would be about the same with the trailer's price. It is stored at DAS shipping company's warehouse in Californiaand they agreed to hold and ship the trailer to the possible buyer, meaning that you won't have to pay for shipping as it will be on my expense.I'm selling the trailer for $4000. You will receive all paperwork, clear title, keys and owner manual. It can be registered without any kind of problems in any state.I'm waiting for your response with any questions you may have.Regards and all the best,Allan"

Ask him specific details about the water heater, axle, fridge... whatever! You could have lots of fun with him!

It is most definitely a scam. I bet it's the same people that tried to get me to buy a Casita about 2 months ago on e-bay. So far I've managed to catch them two other times trying to sell a Casita on e-bay. Looks like they've moved on.
