WI Wausau, Uhaul for sale

Passed a Uhaul 14' (is that the size they come?) alongside the road for sale on my way home tonight. Ironically 2 people who know I have a scamp mentioned to me "I saw a camper like yours for sale".....they said it was $4000. I did not stop to confirm. The location is near the Taco Bell on grand avenue in Schofield (Wausau) WI if anyone's interested in it. I just checked Craigslist to see if I could find it to add to this post but it doesn't appear to be on there.

Lots of us to help you get it ready, Cricket. I would volunteer to help out, but we are going to IA this weekend.

Good luck! Sturdy, cute trailers.

Cricket (Eggless),

I would check that one out. If this guy had it 22 years, he bought it when Uhaul sold them off. If the inside is like the outside, it looks very original. Those of us with Uhauls love them. They are made "to fall to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and survive" as I was told by a fellow rally attendee several years ago. And, frankly, we help our own. Thomas, Kevin, dctricefelt, Mike, Pam, and all the rest of the Uhaulers will help you make it your own camper. We know the issues and can help you.

I agree, it looks all original - just like mine when I got it.

Yes, very similar to Burro. Take a look at the UHauls in the registry.

Dang....someone already put money down on it! He will call me if it falls through though. Thanks for the info Tonia. Someone on here said that usually when they found what that wanted, they had to choose between two in a short period of time....that almost happened....either this one for the $3800 or a 2008 Scamp for $6600....I sure like the price on the Uhaul better....but I can't help but think the Scamp would need far less "updating".....

Yea, that was me re no choices, then two.

I put about $1000 into my UHaul including brakes, battery, tires and solar panel, and fridge plus a lot of sweat equity. No doubt the Scamp has nicer cushions and other details. I only paid $2500, but in December.

Cricket,

I have said this again and again to people who are looking, "You snooze, you lose." I say that, because we bought our Uhaul when someone here was asking questions about one on ebay. We looked at it on ebay and bought it 10 minutes later.

Frankly, you can fix almost anything, even ones that trees fall on. There are people here who have done it. Find one that you are comfortable with the repairs and the price and buy it.

I am not being mean and nasty, just practical. I hope to see you at a rally in the near future.

Cindy...I understand the you snooze, you lose mentality....in this particular situation it was completely out of my hands, and I am OK with that...makes my choice a lot easier! I also know I could fix anything, but right now I have two small children that waited all summer to camp (warranty issue kept our popup out of our hands until july...so most of the season was gone and then my parents borrowed it for a bedroom for company). I don't think it's fair to ask them to wait much longer (sold the popup to raise funds for an egg).....so I'd prefer something useable out of the gate. Hubby prefers newer...I prefer cheaper....we will find something and find you at a rally to say hi!
