I agree with you Bob in regards to considering the tv's ability to stop. i upgraded my tacoma and one of my 4runners brakes to the much larger toyota tundra brakes. This is the best bolt on upgrade i've done to my tv.

That is what I love about my 4Runner is the brakes are huge, 4 piston calipers so the stopping ability is excellent.

My 4runners are the 3rd gen. One is a 2000 and the other 4runner is a 2002 so the oem brakes on these aren't as big as the full size tundra pick ups. If you have a newer 4runner, like the op, then yea you already have the larger brakes. Tacomas 05 and up also come equipped with the larger brakes.

This discussion has been most informative. I agree with you, Dave, on the Toyotas, though I'm a bit unhappy with the En-Tune voice recognition and sat-nav. That may be a matter of spending some time with them, but I find using my iPhone's Google Maps through Bluetooth works better. I thank you for the posts. Some additional questions: How does the Totoya electronic sway control do? Is the Casita Friction Anti-Sway Control still recommended? Does an electric tongue jack add any appreciable tongue weight?

Only warning I can add as far as the electric tongue jack. If you use it with a weight distribution hitch there is no problem the tailgate open but if you use it without a weight distribution hitch (which has a much longer hitch bar) the jack is close enough where the tailgate on a 4Runner will not open, hits the jack.

Thank you. That's why i love forums, you can learn so much, that's why i'm here to learn from you fine folks. My wife says i spend too much time on these forums reading. I told her absorbing all this great knowledge takes time. I learned about the tundra brake upgrade on tacomaworld.com and t4r.com. Allot of great info there for toyota truck owners. I installed 2002 Z28 LS1 disc brakes on to my 68 chevelle's factory equipped drum spindles. Learned about that on a pro touring chevelle forum.

While certainly not "Average" I was looking at the several further down that got a bit heavier, but I agree, looking at average weights the OP should have no problems.
