1972 Boler 1300

In the process of refurbing 1972 Boler( no name yet).
Am replacing the axle and am trying to find the proper position for the centre of the hubs. Ideally from the rear of the frame. I am measuring 54". Does any one have any specs. Much appreciated.

Are you replacing with another Dexter torsion axle?

It's not a Dexter, it is a Flexiride system c/w brakes custom assembled by Pacific Spring & Axle. The problem is that it had 4" arm instead of 6" so it is not just a put it back where it was. It will be welded to the frame so I am trying to verify that I have the correct position or is it critical as long as it fits the wheel wells and is square to the frame.

My guess is that, yes, if the new axle places the wheels properly in the wheel wells including the headroom above the tire, and it's square to the frame, then it will work. The shorter arms may affect the way the rubber flex works, and you may get less shock absorption. But there's nothing else that's going to be affected by the slightly different spec.
