2015 Ford Escape Brake Controller

Our 2014 Ford Escape 2.0L Ecoboost FWD (not AWD or 4x4), with the factory tow package, has proven more than adequate for our lightweight Scamp 13 Layout 1 (with big bed). We do have brakes on the Scamp but, because we originally pulled wit a 2011 Honda CRV AWD, we left off the AC, furnace, awning, wood Deluxe interior, etc. (Because our Escape is FWD, no power was lost to a 4x4 transfer case.)

We made a round trip from the Kansas City metro to California to see the Sequoias and Redwood trees.

Driving at 60 mph (and/or the legal limit of 55 mph in places), we averaged 22.5 mpg.
We went out on the old Route 66 (now I-44) route and returned via I-80, I-25(?), and I-70.

On the return trip we went up and over Donner Pass with the cruise control set on 60 mph and never slowed down. 😊
(We did occasionally use Sport mode to keep the transmission in 5th gear and the engine turning at about 2250 rpm.)

Of course, YMMV. 😉

Yes, I'm ordering with the brakes I'm wanting to spoil myself so awning and furnace will be involved . The only thing I'm torn about is A/C because I think the big unit on top is not appealing ...I wish they would offer a low profile unit.

2015 Ford Escape Brake Controller

Instead of $900 for an awning, we spent a little over $300 for a CLAM screen tent that protects from bugs as well as sun and rain.

😉

Instead of a furnace, we have found that a small electric space heater, some cold weather
(20 degree ?) sleeping bags, and/or a small portable propane heater (Mr. Buddy or other)
are more than sufficient.
