5.0TA hitch

I have a question for all those 5.0TA owners. We are new RV'ers, our 5.0 is on order to be picked up the end of March. Making all the decisions about a mode of camping we have never experienced has been like learning a foreign language!
The next decision we have to make is about what hitch to install in the bed of our 2007 Toyota Tundra. We are ordering a high lift axel on our trailer. Originally, we thought we wanted the Anderson hitch, I love that is it so light weight, 35 pounds! Then we saw the B&W, wow! It's heavier, 95 pounds, but quiet and and smooth ride. We like the idea of bing easy to use. I don't like all the greasing to maintain the B&W. Do all hitches require greasing?

What hitches are 5.0 owners using? What do you like/dislike? Would you buy the same hitch again?

The Anderson Ultimate requires no lubrication. I was skeptical, but after about 4,000 miles there is no apparent wear. The big advantage for our situation was that we already had installed a B&W gooseneck hitch style turnover ball in the truck (Dodge 3500 SRW), so no rails were needed. Hitch is light and easy to take in and out.

Thanks Bob, how is the ride with the Andersen? Do you hear any noise coming from the hitch? I love the part about no greasing necessary and that it is so light weight.

Ride is quiet and smooth. You can find a variety of opinions on the various fifth wheel hitch options at the Escape forum site:

I have had the Anderson Ultimate for 3 years now and am very happy with it. Easy to hitch up, light weight, and very quiet under way.

Yep, What Jim said

Get everything set up in advance with Trademasters and have it all installed the day before you pick up the camper. Excellent work and customer service.

Love my Anderson Ultimate. I have the steel rail mount. Installed myself in an afternoon. Can lift out with 1 hand. Ball has 3 heights adjusted by simply moving a pin. The ball also has an offset front to back which can be reversed as well as the adaptor which mounts to pin. Traveling it is very quiet with no creaking and groaning like I’ve heard from conventional 5th wheel hitches. You have more room in the bed for hauling extra stuff than with other 5th wheel hitches. Now I have never used a regular 5th wheel so my personal experience towing for the last year and half is strictly with Anderson. Towing our 5.0TA we have experienced no swaying, porpoiseing or any bad manners at all.
