76 Ventura brakes

Pulled the drums last night to find that the wires to one of the magnets were broken. Went online to see if I could id them but no luck. I went into the good folks at City Spring here in Edmonton to see if the could set me up with a magnet but no luck. I then asked how much for a new assembly, the answer floored me, $38 a side(why the h was i looking for a magnet). Pull 4 nuts and replace then re wire instant rebuild of 35 year old brakes. Size was 10" x 2 1/4"

GREAT deal! If you could have found the magnet, it probably would have cost $39

Hi I just bought a 1975 Ventura and saw your post. My electric brakes seem to work ok now but I was thinking of updating them. Do you know if the same assembly you bought would fit on my 75? If so I will have to contact Spring City and see if they will ship to Regina.
Thanks
Glenn

Hi Glenn
congrats on the find! I would think that the brakes would be the same. From what I found , the 10 x2 1/4 are a pretty standard size and the bolt pattern is too. I know that Princess Auto stocks them but twice the price. I would check out your local spring shops but if they don't have them then City Spring does for sure. Have to figure the shipping cost into the deal but they cost of the units was about $38 each. I would inspect yours first , check the wire insulation and if the trailer only has 4 trips on it they may be just fine to use. Your not stopping that much weight.

Very interesting!

We have a 1974 Ventura that we acquired last year. For some reasons the brakes have been disconnected and the wiring harness has been modified to 4-pin.

We are going to try to fix the wiring and get the brakes working again - who knows, we probably need to replace the brake assembly too.

I had someone else do mine, but yes, I was surprised by the relatively inexpensive assys.

My drums were shot too, so it cost a tad more..but worth every penny.
