Actual towing mileage using a Chevy Silverado 5.3L ??? Anyone??

Anyone pulling a 13-16 footer with a Chevy 5.3? If so, what actual mileage are you getting while towing at 55-60mph?

I have a 13' Scamp, and I can get 21 mph highway when not pulling, but will I be able to achieve at least 17 mph while pulling?

Thanks!
Tim

I have a 1999 Silverado 4x2 with a 4.8 V8 pulling a 17' Casita.
I get 16 MPG pulling the trailer at 60 MPH.

Our 2009 Silverado 4x4 with 5.3 liter V8 towing our 17 ft Egg Camper gets anywhere from 13 to 17 mpg depending on speed, wind, hills, traffic, etc. Ours will cut back to 4 cylinders depending on conditions even towing. Non-towing mpg varies from 18 to about 21, though 21 is rare. The ONLY time I'd drive over 60 while towing would be passing somebody.

Hi.
We tow a 19' Escape 5th wheel with an '04 Chevy Silverado 4.8 and got just less than 17 mpg (US gallons). That' s overall average on a trip down the coast from Vancouver to Carlsbad, up through Arizona, Nevada, Colorado and then home to northern Ontario. Lots of 65mph, and lots of mountain passes.
Regards,
John
