We have never owned one, but we know folks who have. Generally, they have had good luck with them. Unlike some first or second model year vehicles, they have been manufacted a lot of years and have had plenty of time to have many of the bugs worked out of them. Like anything else, however, you can always get a bad one.
The 4.3L V-6 engine is a tried and proven engine, with practical and usable torque in a good towing RPM range. As mentioned, the 3.73 axle
ratio would be the better choice of towing axles.
