I stand corrected. That wasn't a great era for MG, was it? Like when they added a couple of inches to the ride height of the MGB in order to get the headlamps up to the US statutory minimum height.

Yea, we were getting even for either the War of 1812 or Lucas electrics. I'm not sure which?

Much as I don't want to stop the pillorying of Joseph Lucas, aha The Prince of Darkness, I should point out that when Dneipr motorcycle-sidecar combinations (WWII BMW copies) were first imported to Britain in the Soviet Union era, it was a popular modification to replace electrical components with Lucas or Smiths equivalents to improve reliability.... A friend had one whose gears had failed to be case-hardened and it made it to 700 miles before the gearbox seized at speed.
