Bent "arms" for wheel attachment

Hi Everyone:

We had likely had too much weight in our 13' 1974 Trillium Trailer on a bumpy road and our wheel "arms" (no idea what they are called) are bent so now the wheels have a visible camber to them. (In at the top and out at the base of the tire.)

It looks as though the frame doesn't have an axel that goes from one wheel to the next but has smaller control arms that come down from a central bar and the wheel is attached to those arms. Any ideas on how to fix this? can the "arms" be heated and hammered back to shape then strengthened somehow? any info on where I can take it?

Thanks.

Katrina

Hi Katrina.
Where are you located is it near a city Center?
You would be wise to seek out an RV suspension and running gear shop like McCallister Spring. I believe they are still in Vancouver.
In Calgary we have Standens Spring and Axle.
Sometimes with running gear, when this happens it is a wake up call of sorts to replace assemblies such as the axle to a new, heavier grade part.
If the axle has cambered with relatively normal use it may be fatigued and not easily corrected - At least for the long run.
Do a search of RV Service Shops and Dealers and ask around who is the best for suspension and running gear.
See if you can post a pic or two?

Go to "Torflex Axle" or "Dexter".
I sounds like you need a new axle... If so, don't panic they aren't that expensive to replace.
