bigger wheels/tires?

Hello I have a Trailswest Campster and would like to know if I can safely lift the suspension and add a bit bigger wheel & tire combo for long distance traveling. Thanks Mark

You can, but for long distance highway towing, low and aerodynamic is better. No reason for bigger wheels/tires unless you have the dinky 8" wheels some older tent trailers used to have (which really give bearings a workout). My Scamp with 13" wheels and "low rider" OEM suspension tows cool all day long at 65 mph in triple digit temperatures. I do check tire and hub temperature at every stop. Never a problem.

Now for backcountry use, that's another matter.

You would also increase the possibility of sway doing this.

I did a small change, going from 13 inch to 14 inch on my Trillium. I’ll have to measure, my guess is it lifted the trailer by maybe an inch. I did it because I like the “look” of the Ford Ranger alloy wheels. Bolt pattern matters too!
