I am new to "Burro" world and have a question as to what size hitch ball is required. I have looked all over the tongue and hitch area and find no clue there. I have pulled the Burro ( but just around town ) with a two inch hitch ball but would like to know what size is actually required ?

I don't know, but the coupler should have the capacity and the ball size stamped into the metal -- It may be obscured by a couple of coats of paint -- Try viewing it in darkness with a flashlight shining across the surface to give some relief and contrast.

Lee---

I believe there are only 3 standard sizes, and of them ONE (something like 2 5/8" is for the ginormous rigs)

For the others, there is the 2" and the 1 7/8".

IF YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY locked it with a 2", that is the one you need. You don't need to change anything.

If you had been using a 1 7/8" ball, the coupler will "lock" around it, but it could pop loose when towing.
BUT if the coupler needed a 1/78, there is no way a 2" would fit and lock.

So... i repeat... IF YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY locked it with a 2", that is the one you need. You don't need to change anything.

Lee, I agree with Alan's analysis, but for a little more confirmation my 1982 Burro has a 2" receiver. So welcome to "Burro" world. You will learn much about your Burro here at FiberglassRv.

!-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16". I have locked onto a 2" with a 2-5/16" coupler and allthough it seemed a good hookup it sure rattled and thats when I noticed I had the wrong ball on there

Thanks guys for your help. I tried the flashlight in the dark thing and in fact could read several things I had not seen in the daylight, but no hitch ball info. Per the other responses I think you are right and that the 2 inch ball is the right size. My wife and I are headed for the NOG at Waterloo Park in Oregon next week so if you are there and notice my Honda Ridgeline arriving towing nothing but the safety chains we will know that I needed a larger hitch ball !!!
