Disk brakes or drum for trailer.
Can you identify me if there is advantage with one or the other one?
I possess Trillium 15 '.
Thank you,
and have a good day.

I didn't know that there was a choice for electric brakes on FGRV's. What do you know about disc brakes being available?

Drum works on magnetism and friction. How does disk work?

When I read a new mail this morning in this site, a member identified this web page and it is from there my question...

I have ends too quickly, electric brakes seem to exist with drum only.

With disc brakes you would typically need a surge type brake system which are used by some non-rv type trailers for hauling animals or construction. Your early U-Haul trailers had surge brakes since most vehicles do not have a brake controller. Most rv's use drum brakes with electric brakes activated by a brake controller. So I guess if you wanted, you could replace you axle with disc brakes. I'm not sure but some larger Airstreams may have electric disc brakes.

Yes they do but the problem was the delayed action of getting them to actually engage. Not sure if the problem has been fixed or not.

I believe the Lil Snoozy originally came with surge disc brakes.

Surge brakes are more common on boat trailers and I believe that a boat trailer builder is/was building frames for Lil'Snoozy.
I once looked for a surge brake tongue assy for a "V" frame but could only find than for single beam frames.

Drum surge brakes are standard on the LIL Snoozy. Some people have ordered them with the disk surge. we ordered ours with drum electric.
