I am looking to buy a 16' Scamp and want to pull it with an '07 Toyota Tacoma 6 cyl. Any suggestions as to a brand name for an electronic brake?

A lot of our members use Tekonsha brake controllers - I use a prodigy on my Subaru and it works great.

I have a Tekonsha P3 that I mounted in an 05 Tacoma. Works great.

I have a Prodigy but if I were to buy a new one, I would get the P3 because it has some good troubleshooting features that are more than worth the small price differential (presuming one shops around) to me -- YMMV!

I agree with the above posts too Pamela. I went with the P3 for the reasons Pete mentions, it has a couple more diagnostic tools, but the workings are the same as the Prodigy. Plus it will do electric over hydraulic, but that really does not help us FG folks. I got mine at etrailer.com, the best price I could find, and excellent service too.

I went with the prodigy for my Tacoma, it fits perfectly into the
small storage space to the lower right side of the steering column.

Pete,
We use Tekonsha prodigy in three vehicles, and are quite happy. I'm curious, though. What features would you get in the new Tekonsha for the extra dollars, in your opinion?

Tekonsha P3 from etrailer.com.

Excellent performance, price and the service was fast. Shipping was only $5.00 via USPS as I believe they had a special on at the time.

The feature that tells how many amps are being used by the trailer brakes -- Just sitting in the driver's seat, without a meter or complicated wiring, nor opening any connections, one can read the numbers and do some diagnostics -- May never need it, but it would pay for itself first time one did, IMHO.

There may be other troubleshooting features, but that one alone would be a deal maker for me.

Nothing wrong with Prodigy, just that the P3 has more.

I just ordered the P3 from etrailer.com. Should be getting it very soon. Now I have to prepare for a cold day lying on the garage floor running wires!

I have P3 and like it. It went on temporary vacation once with just color and no digits on the display. Temporary power disconnect returned the unit to life. I still like it.
