Flip up towing mirrors

The stock mirrors on my '07 Tacoma were pretty tiny. Our Bigfoot is two feet wider than the old tin can trailer we had so we needed some kind of towing mirrors.

I found these on eBay. They were guaranteed to fit and plugged right into the power mirror plug. They are much bigger than the stock mirrors even when they are folded in, and folded out they give a really wide view.

Just had them installed today so I haven't towed with them yet. They are good so far. Much bigger, much wider field of view and a good parabolic mirror in the corner.

They look nice, great idea on the flip up part. Could you post the Ebay link, perhaps they have other models?

Please post the Ebay Link . I am interested in adding towing mirrors on my PU but on my truck the mirrors are controlled by the trucks computer and to change the mirrors requires a reprogram . Maybe the mirrors you bought have found away around that problem

Wow, those of us that are buying or already own wider trailers are going to love looking at this thread.

I really need that eBay link

Hopefully this will work on the link. New tech attempt for me:

View item:
Side View Power Mirrors Black Flip Up Tow Towing Pair Set for 05-13 Tacoma 1YR Warranty. Guaranteed Correct Part, Highest Quality

That didn't work... second try:

One note for Steve Dunham - for the Tacoma they have three types of mirrors that were supposed to exactly replace what type of stock mirror that you have. One is completely manual, one has power adjustments, and one has power adjustments, heat and a turn signal. They offer all three, but on the Tacoma all of them either just bolt in or bolt in and plug in.

Hopefully they've got a fix. That eBay merchant has over 200,000 sales so they seem to have the market figured out pretty well on aftermarket/upgrade parts.

Good luck.

I did a search on the vendor's eBay store page for "towing mirrors" and a ton of them came up for every imaginable make and model. Here's a link directly to their eBay store front page with the search field:

items in auto parts 1A Auto aftermarket automotive part car and truck store on eBay!

Thanks Joe,
That will make future searches easier for the seller, as the item page will expire in a while.

Do the mirrors fold as well as flip?

It's weird - they have the joint in the plastic as if they would fold, but they don't. That would be a nice addition. They're pretty wide.

I think the car and truck manufacturers should AUTOMATICALLY install these safer, wider mirrors on all vehicles when making them. Where is our government when needed to help the drivers safely see on the sides and rear of our cars/trucks??? This should be a no brainier for the car industry!!!!!
In the mean time, will check them out. Ca-ching for add ons.

They are too busy in Washington, operating the government efficiently and with a balanced budget. ...... Anyone want to buy a piece of the Brooklyn Bridge?

Hi Joe. I noticed that you had them installed. Is this required or can the buyer install them without too much trouble? About how much did it cost to have them installed?

Thanks,
Dan

FWIW, there is a company called Kool-Vue that makes most of the direct-replacement, OE fit towing mirrors that you find on eBay and other retail sites. I don't think the mirrors the OP has are Kool-Vue but that's what I bought for my Tundra. If you are looking for direct, custom fit towing mirrors, look on eBay and also on the web as these vary in price radically from dealer to dealer. Sometimes the best deals can be found outside of eBay. KOOL-VUE.COM - The largest supply of OE replacement mirror..

Donna, I think they actually do make mirrors for Fords but the Kool-Vue "catalog" is a disaster. Lots of things missing from it. Try looking at Discount Auto Mirrors - Replacement Car Mirror at Wholesale Prices for mirrors for your year/make/model and see what brands they have for your vehicle. Their application list is a little more comprehensive than the one on the Kool-Vue site.

Thanks Mike. I don't even have the truck yet . But even your link leads to just a "Universal" for a 2014 Ford F-150.
