I finally decided on the Hankook RA-08 (made in Korea) 195R14C D rated LT
tires for the
Casita. I actually like the narrower
tires fit on the rim better. I travel on the occasional rocky roads and the less sidewall hanging over the rim to snag something the better. These are 106/104r rated so I'll never have to be concerned about exceeding speed rating of the tire even when I have to pass something.
Weight capacity is 2094 at 65psi per tire. Wheels are rated for 1850lbs and no mention of pressure but I think any steel wheel will handle 65psi with steel valve stems. Just guessing from the fact that I can't quite stretch the tire cover over the new tire, they must be just slightly taller than the original 205/70 Marathons that were on it (without half the tire bulging past the rim).
Could have gone to a higher rating with a 15" rim but just didn't see the need being worth the extra issues involved. Time will tell if these are a good choice. If they hold up as well as the Hankooks on my truck I'll be happy.
