Grand Cherokee GVWR

I recently purchased a 2008 Grand Cherokee diesel for my TV. I know that the Dodge Ram I had had a sticker on the door with all the weights and axle weight limitations. I do not see one on the Grand Cherokee. Does anyone know if this is normal or is the sticker missing? Anyone with the same SUV that can send me a pic of the information ?
I called the dealer and they say that the sticker is unavailable. Whatever that means.

If it's missing I would suspect body work at some point. Undisclosed body work?

Dealer wouldn't be able to help, I have never heard of that being replaced as it's made by the factory when the vehicle is being built... with the vin number. Certain things are just not replaceable.

They probably should have been able to give you that information based on the vin... those numbers are calculated based on options, tow package, a/c, power windows and so on... tow weight is reduced with more options added. They are not a "one size fits all" type deal.

I run away from vehicles with that missing, no matter what price they are being sold for... that and the sticker under the hood with the engine size, emissions etc...

Ran away from a very nicely priced 3/4 ton truck as that sticker and the vin on the dash didn't match

I bookmarked the OEM Jeep parts place but they do no show the sticker. There is the sticker with the VIN on the windsheild, the under hood emissions sticker and tire preasure stickers are all there. Would be nice to see what it looks like if anyone has the same make and model. No record of any body work but....

A dealer should be able to run the vin number and tell you everything about that vehicle. Options, capacities, etc. It doesn't get you a sticker, but I think they should be able to tell you what the sticker should say.

Will try another Chrysler dealer. The one I asked could not access the information and although I e-mailed customer service I have not had an answer.

Try Chrysler Canada and ask for a 'build sheet' based on your VIN, otherwise try here?

Not necessarily. I had my Escape detailed and it came back with no sticker.

Funny thing. Met up with another owner. Same year, same vehicle, same scrubbed off weight stickers.

Did you look in the Owners Manual that should be in the glove box? Towing info is also usually given there as well, but may include the caveat "If appropriately Equipped" which sends you back to Chrysler Canada for information.

I'd start by telling them that you don't want a ticket for being overweight and need the information.

Good Luck
