As others mentioned, better than nothing, but I use a dab of what is sold as hitch grease, which appears to be a white lithium grease, just thicker.

I have 4 for the pickup, (1-7/8, 2, 2-5/16 for the drawbar, and a 2-5/16 for the gooseneck), two (1-7/8, 2) for the car, 3 for the other pickup, and 3 (1-7/8, 2, 2-5/16) for the garden tractor…

Some people have a lot of balls…

I have 4 balls, myself.

One 1 7/8", two different 2" (one straight and one dropped), and one 2 5/16".

Oh, and a pintle hitch too but they require no grease.

As "Juan Pelota" used to say: I have but one ball, Senor. I do have a stinger with a different drop and a smaller ball for utility trailer. Some of those sway devices give the impression of a full complement altho one is smaller.

Just ordered one. New to me. My wife complained on a regular basis about getting grease on her self. Will not get to use it till spring as our trailer is stored for the winter in a controlled temp/humidity area of a limestone mine. Will let you know how it is in the spring.

Gee, You could grow mushrooms while in storage? Where/how did you find such a place?

They're cropping..."down"...all over the place- abandoned limestone quarries!

Why not use a dryer sheet, the ball will smell better.

There are a few in western Pa. Mine is in Brady's Bend Underground storage. I have used this for storing my previous trailer since the very early eighties. Another in Wampum, Pa. You can google either to read about them. Works well for me, as with 5 autos and a track car, space is at a premium.

Not recommended for those of us who depend on static cling to hold things together....

That's what I use, I keep a can of the stuff with me on long trips. Wipe off ball and reapply every few days. Easy to find at any Home depot or Lowes.
