I was surprised to discover that the weight of our Boler is 1450 pounds without 2 kayaks the luggage and food aboard. I started to look at all the stuff in the trailer and saw that this made sense. My initial reason for the weigh in was my offer to loan the Boler to my son in law and daughter for a weekend. They have a Jeep Liberty, I looked it up and it is rated for 5000 pounds towing capacity. (you can do it but NOT me)
I attached the information to this note for your view and comment.

Weight of Marty & Cher's Boler

Item weight
Tounge 195
Right Rear 605
Left Rear 650
Total 1450

Included in weight estimated weight
Batteries 75
20# propane cylinder 30
Air conditioner 55
Luggage Rack 65
Spare tire and carrier 75
Included weight 302

extras included in weight
2 folding chairs 15
empty cooler 10
gas grille 18
gas 2 burner (portable 16
4 propane bottles 8
2 sleeping bags 9
small fan 2
life vests 4
tools rivets etc. 12
battery charger 18
water hose 5
electric cord 3
pots pans + junk 45
2 movers blankets 8
Extras total 173

After looking at the numbers I found myself saying how do I get the right side and left side balanced
I changed things around to get the posted weights as I was 150 lbs heavy on the driver's side. I moved weight forward as well. (about 15 pounds total change front to back)

I am re-thinking trailer brakes when I replace the axle. My reason is food, luggage 2 kayaks and other junk will get the all up weight to an easy 1800 pounds.

It is easy to add pounds without thinking about it! I told my kids "that trailer might be 1150 to 1200 pounds total!". Now I have to tell them what it really weights!

Interesting Marty,

Partially filling the water tank will add weight to the rear right, balancing sides and lightening the load on the tongue a bit. Even then, the tongue weight is in line with the 10 or so % most recommend, might even be a little light for those that lean towards the 15%.

If you are thinking of a new axle and brakes, here is how I did my boler American.

Roy.

Roy,

The water tank was cracked and leaking that space is now more storage.

I do it all the time. It is true! I tow substantially more than the Boler.

I towed my 13 footer with it when I got it, it felt like nothing was back there. It weighed 1450 [b]loaded.

They will be fine.
