I like mine!

I have a 2011 with a 2.4L 4 banger. I love it! I used it to tow my 13 Scamp from Colorado to Michigan when I purchased it last February. Although it turned out to be an adventure, none of the issues were TV related. Acceleration in the high range was a bit slow but hey it's a 4cl. I towed to a camp site during a deluge and it tracked well through some serious rain covered roads. Finally, the AWD took me through some pretty steep rain-soaked clay two tracks that same night without a problem. I even rescued a trailer full of kayaks that was left at the bottom of one of those hills after I dropped the Scamp off in camp. It matters how you drive, but without the tow I average 22-24 mpg, with the Scamp it drops to 19 with 21 being the best I can get. Mpg really drops off if you are in a hurry...

We tow our Boler with a 07' Kia Sedonna and it is rated for #3500 and we had no problems at all pulling it through and over the great smokey mountains, couldn't even tell it was back there

Doesn't your Sedona have the big 3.8L V6?

The Sorento now offers a base 2.4L, a new (to the Sorento) 2.0L turbo in up-trim 5-passenger versions, and a 3.3L V6 in 7-passenger versions. Rated 2000# with the 2.4, 3500# with everything else, except 5000# in the V6 AWD.

As far as I tell, the turbo engine was first offered in 2016, which is why there isn't much real-world towing experience yet. Owner's forums are often the best place to scout out emerging issues with a new drivetrain.

Hey John, It was great meeting you at the GE&H Rally this past week/weekend. Thanks for stopping by our campsite. 90+ fiberglass rigs!! Great turnout this year! We hope to see you there again next year. Maybe we'll cross paths again somewhere out there between now and then. Safe travels until then.... Dale & Elaine

Hey Dale, Glad we could hook up at the rally. I enjoyed the tour at the Hyundai plant, that turbo engine sounds like it might be ideal for towing as long as it holds up. Our 05 Hyundai Accent engine is still purring away getting 35 MPG plus all the time (too bad I can't tow our Scamp with that one)

I towed a 13' Scamp with a 99 Kia Sportage with no problems. I now have the 2014 GDI Kia Sorento and live in the Mountains in Northern Nevada. I have no problems towing the 13' Scamp up the hills. They are great for towing !
