Stud is probably pressed in from the back side of the hub.

John said to check the threads in the drum, and I figured there were no threads and it was a pressed in serrated stud. HOWEVER, I have a small utility trailer (Coleman Versa, no brakes) that does not have the studs but uses a tapered head lug bolt, so in that case John would be correct in saying to check the threads in the hub. Could be either way.

Yep, it's one of those. Gotta get around to taking the old one to the auto parts store and getting a replacement. the stud is about 2" long.
