Trailer: No Trailer Yet

Any MB members out there who can confirm this? Looked at a trailer that had electric brakes but they were disconnected. The owner doesn't use a special hitch or the brakes, big diesel truck and a 14 ft trailer. But someone from the local RV place said you have to have both if the weight is 2000 lbs for insurance reasons. This seems like overkill... but can't seem to get an answer on whether it's recommended or required. In our province there is only one insurer operates as a crown corp, so there is no other choice.

If it has servicable brakes then the wiring is relatively simple. You will need a brake controller in your vehicle.
