mirrors for my 2001 Ranger

The mirrors I have (standard) aren't cutting it, what do you guys use so you can see the traffic behind the camper? As it is I'm lucky if I can see 1/4 mi. behind the camper, I see those fish eye things but doubt they are any good. Just wondrin' Pete

Well, I tried the mirrors that attached to the originals with rubber straps and hated them. The problem was that they shook so much that it made me nauseous just trying to use them. Another problem was that semi trucks going the opposite direction on 2-lane roads would exert enough wind force on the driver's side mirror to fold it back against the door. My solution--I threw the add-ons in the trash and learned to do a little butt wiggle with my trailer so I could see what's behind me. No problems since. If you really, really need to knows who following you, could I suggest a wireless camera? They're cheap.

I've got a Ranger and have used both the mirrors that extend from the mirrors and the old style chrome "tripods" that hook onto the hood/wheelwell. My preference is to take of the gravel guard and see what is behind you in the rear view mirror.

I don't know if they will fit your truck, but I have a set of Grand Aero Mirrors on my RAV4 and they are by far the best of all the different ones I've tried.

You don't say which mirrors your Ranger has.I have a 2001 Ranger and use slip-on CIPA mirrors, which are as stable as stock mirrors.
CIPA does not list them for the Ranger, probably due to the variety of OEM mirrors supplied, but the numbers below fit the mirrors below.

Below is a picture of the stock mirrors on my truck.
The CIPA part #s are Right side/11502... Left side/11501 if yours are like these....

I also have the CIPA mirrors on my 2001 Ranger. Local stores did not have the model for Rangers so I bought them from eTrailer.
At first the CIPA mirrors seemed fragile in that the mounting screws are plastic and the shell flexes to hold tension on the screws. After more than 5000 miles towing with them I think that they are very well engineered. They hold their adjustment, do not come loose, and do not modify the Ranger in any way.

I have Fit System clip on mirrors that have rubber ratchet straps. I use them on our Honda CRV and they work very good, no vibration, stay tight. Bought them at Amazon, part # 3891. According to the package they fit mirrors 4 1/2 to 11 1/2" high

I actually have Longview CTM2200A mirrors.

My comments above were actually about the Longview mirrors.
eTrailer has several photos of the Longview CTM2200A mirrors and a video.
