I've been spending the winter in California but I'm getting ready to return to Alaska, where I keep my all-original 1989
Bigfoot 17 footer, for another season of work.
When I bought the
Bigfoot up there last year, it came with some pretty old and hammered passenger car
tires on it, and the original bias-ply for a spare. After some research I decided on a set of Maxxis M8008 load range C
tires, ST205/75R14, but I couldn't find them in Alaska so I decided to wait until I got to California then bring a set home with me.
The original wheels were pretty rusty so I decided to splurge on a set of new Carlisle 14 x 5-1/2" steel wheels. I got a decent deal on a set of three wheels and
tires so they'll get loaded into my truck in a few days for the journey up there.
I'm looking forward to getting hese installed and reporting back on their performance. I may tow the
Bigfoot all the way back to California this coming
fall when I finish my tour of duty so the tires will definitely get the ultimate test as I trek across the Alcan.
Cheers!
