I would guess I could get the weldingdone for around $70. With very little labor on my part!!??

The original factory class III is rusted pretty bad and I don't trust it.

Actually I can get a plate drilled and welded, (I take the hitch off) for nothing ! We were at a motorcycle shop tonight for a dirt bike rider get together (actually a machine and welding shop) and he will do it for nothing. !!!!!

Frank,
It should work like new, maybe better.
I would check the function after the repair by jacking up the tongue with the coupler hooked to the tug just for peace of mind.
You should be good to go.
