Replacing the brakes on my 17 Bigfoot

I came back from a trip a few weeks ago and had problems with one side of the trailer brakes grabbing and not releasing properly even dragging. At one rest stop the left side hub was to hot to touch but the right side was fine.
Wondered maybe the bearing as a possibility.
Being retired with plenty of tools and no plans for the next several weeks I finally decided to get the jack out and have a look.
PS yes there are jack stands under the frame.

As can be seen in the photo's the spider crack in the middle of the brake lining a sure indication that new shoes are needed.
I also noticed that generally things are not releasing smooth.
Tomorrow I'll be going to buy complete brake assemblies with new baking plate & will replace the hub's as they are not that expensive.

The good thing was taking off the 11/16 nuts from the back plate was easy no cutting needed.

I would check out a truck and trailer spring shop in your area. I was able to pick up the whole assembly (2 1/4 x10) for $38 CDN /side at City Spring in Edmonton76 Ventura brakes

So I replaced my brake assemblies with Dexter Nev-R-Adjust electric drum brake assemblies.
