Replacing trailer brakes on 13' Trillium

The brakes on my '76 Trillium are shot and I need new ones. I am planning on installing them myself, but I have a lot to learn first. I've read as many posts as I can on this, but I still have a few questions.

Based on what I have read, I am assuming the brakes I have are 7" (please correct me if I am wrong). The 7" brakes seem to be harder to find, and often more expensive. Is it possible to use 10" brakes instead? Is there anything I would have to do differently?

Is the brand of trailer brake that I buy important? Does it have to match the axle?

Where would be good places to shop for trailer brakes when shopping from Canada?

I've replaced brakes on several Eggs, including a Trillium.
You may have 10' brakes.
Replacement brakes are generic so you don't need to worry about specific trailer models.
I don't know about the shipping to Canada but NorthernTool.com has the best prices I have found on brakes and they are a great company to do business with.
You will find it's less expensive to buy the complete brake assembly. Everything's new and includes the expensive magnets.
It's also much easier and quicker to install.

Northern Tool is the way to go. Get the complete system all at once, new hubs, bearings, brakes and magnets.

depending on the set-up, your old brakes may be obsolete.
My trillium had an odd width 7 inch, and I could not get replacements.
any brake kit should fit, but the new hubs need to match the existing bearing sizes.
