That's a good move, too!
I also wave them around, since I too have been stuck behind RV's and it's sometimes hard to figure out what their intentions are as I can't see the road in front of them. My "O.K. to pass" wave is a clear signal to the car back there that the coast is clear and I'm expecting them to go on by. It also makes us a temporary "team" instead of competitors for the same hunk of road...
AND-
It's almost always rewarded with a "thank you" wave!

Hi: All... Best defence when the tailgator refuses to budge is put on your 4way flashers!!! That usually indicates something's wrong... them. They'll soon look ahead and pass you out quickly.
A great bumper sticker is "Sorry for driving so close in front of you".

Alf, Alf, Alf:

Haven't we talked about this in our high powered "Trilliums of The World (and Beyond!!)" meetings? I wouldn't like to have to go before the Board of Directors to defend my appointment of you as Canadian High Mucky-Muck.
NEVER put any thing on your bumper that gives the maniac behind you the smallest suspicion that you're slowing him/her down on purpose.
It's a funny sticker, but wouldn't your audience suspect that you're driving slow just so he/she can read it?

Please see me in my office as soon as I get one.

Madame Francesca

That's right, Don't "wave" back. I try not to hold others up, but sometimes it can't be helped. Also, speed limit signs are supposed to show the Maximum, not Minimum speed. Too many people now a days are in too much of a hurry.

So I don't fret about it too much anymore. Life's too short to get worked up over a slow driver

I also wave them around...

I quit doing any traffic direction a long time ago (way before I started pulling my Trillium). It's quite a heavy responsibility to take on and assumes you can assess all possible circumstances and the driving abilities of the tailgater - all at a pretty high rate of speed. I choose not to take that risk anymore. I now just leave it to the vehicle operator behind to decide what to do and when to do it.

I expect it may be harder in other parts of the world; it works pretty well out here in the Great Northwest part of the U.S.of A.!
Those in-a-hurry folks are back there anyway, jonesin' to pass, and an all- clear wave is a good signal to do so...
No dead bodies in the landscape so far, and that's the main thing
