Some MPG Information for a Scamp 5er

We just got home from a wonderful couple of days out on the road. I kept good good records of MPG. Our trip was a total of 605.7 miles towing, and we traveled 778.6 miles including site-seeing. The first 58 miles was down-hill almost the whole way from 6,000 ft down to 3,200 ft, but remember for all the down-hill time it is up-hill to get home.

We are towing a 2001 Scamp 19, w/ 14' tires, behind a 4.3 lt 193hp, V-6 Chevy P/U

Our first fill up gave us 15.5mpg, after driving 291.3 miles.

Our second fill up gave us 15. 4mpg, and that was driving up and down small hills.

Our third fill up was to do some touring, we averaged 18.7mpg. This was climbing from 300ft of elvation to 3,700 ft, and back down to our camp ground.

Our last fill up was 14.6 mpg and we climbed from 300 ft of elvation to over 6,000 ft. were home is. Also there was a lot of up-hill and some down hill, in the 184.9 miles that we traveled.

After talking to others in the camp grounds, about milage, I have no complaints. We had a wonderful time, and I look forward to our next trip

I was lucky to get into the double digits on my last trip. But I love the jeep.

What speed was this at? That makes a huge difference. I've seen mileage for lots of vehicle/trailer combos on here, not much for the scamp 19's. It would be nice to get some more info going on it. I've only had mine on the road bringing it home, I got 11.5 mpg @ 80 mph. I was fine with that, Titan has a 5.6L with a new intake plenum, cold air intake, new exhaust, and a custom tune on the computer, supposedly around 350hp. i can change the tune and probably get another 3-4mpg better ( goes from 17-21 not towing), but what's the fun in that?

It might be a hair better with the new axle/wheels/tires, we'll see.

Up all the hills it got to be pretty slow, about 37mph. When I'm that slow and the speed limit is 65, I feel like I might get run over. When I'm on flat ground I try to keep at 60mph, although I admit that when there is a short downhill section with a up hill that I can see, I let the speed increase up to as much as 70 to save on using throttle on the hill. This is only for short bursts
