Squeeking Noise

Ok, I have a friend thats presently heading out west pulling a 2002 16' Scamp. He sent me a text and said the camper is making a squeeking noise when he takes off from a stopped position when he hits the gas. Thats all I know. He's worried something is wrong. I know not much to go on; but any ideas?

Brakes or bearings, unplug the electricial connector to trailer will eliminate the brakes. Still squeaking I'd be looking at the bearings.

squeeks

Another thing to check grease on the ball. If you haven't repacked the bearings this season you could have a problem.

Until this is figured out and if it's the bearings STOP MOVING. More than one trailer owner had to replace the entire axle due to a seized bearing. Let's hope it something simple like the hitch ball....

Could it just be the ball mount moving in the hitch. A couple other people here had complained about noise, but it was more of a clunking, a hitch tightener solved their problems. A squeaking noise when starting up could also be the trailer brakes dragging or not releasing, assuming he was at a stop light with his foot on the brake, then takes off when the light turns green and the brakes aren't releasing right away. Best bet is jack up a wheel at a time and spin it while listening for noise, then have someone activate the brakes and release them and spin wheel again, check for dragging or noise.

Problem solved

My friend texted me and said it ended up being a bad universal joint on his truck. Wasn't the Scamp after all. Thanks to all that responded.
