State Bridge tolls increased in Caifornia

I was surprised on July 3 to discover the bridge toll had basically doubled for car towing a single axle trailer. My U-haul and Explorer rig cost $15 for a trip across. This is for a delayed 2010 rate increase for seismic retrofit.

The price is getting kind of steep!

"For whom does the bridge toll? It tolls for thee."

The weird part is that the toll increase is supposed "to counter revenue losses caused by a decline in toll-paying traffic on the bridges since fiscal year 2003-04."

I wonder what effect doubling tolls will have on traffic, now?!

Regards,

Matt

Matt, it will enhance the perceived value of the bridge drive, leading to more people desiring to take the bridge route. (But it only works in California.)
