My 2005 Honda CRV is rated for only 1500 lbs. I have a class 1 hitch. Is there any egg trailers that I can haul safely or should I settle for a little teardrop trailer? Thanks

Even my Scamp 13' with it's notorious dry weight of 950 lbs weighs 1,700 lbs going down the road. Casita lists a realistic dry weight of about 1,400 lbs.

There are a number of teardrop and tent trailers out there that are very light and a good match for your Honda.

The Little Guy Rascal has a dry weight of 500 lbs!

Without any problems, I tow my '74 13ft Boler with my '99 Honda CRV that's only rated to tow 10001b. Granted I haven't driven it over any big mtn ranges, just mostly flattish northeast roads. The Boler sticker says it weighs 850 lbs. I haven't actually weighed it yet.
I was going to get a teardrop also, then my brother found the Boler, and convinced me it's much better being able to stand up in one's camper. I'm SOOOOOOO happy with Bolerwinkel.
I'm limited in what I can load it with because of the wt constraints, but it hasn't been an issue yet.
My 2 greyhounds would prefer a little more space, but we manage.
DBF and I are going camping with it in the Catskills this weekend. YAY!

If you think you'll get tired of laying down to get dressed in the morning, perhaps you might be able to tow a Little Joe by Weis Craft Trailers: http://www.weiscrafttrailers.com/littlejoe.html

Hi Vickie

We tow our boler with a 2002 CRV, also rated for 1500 lbs. We stopped by a scale to check the weight and we came in around 1200 lbs loaded. Like Deb H, we have traveled mostly flat roads and have never had a problem.

Hi Vicki,

I towed a 13 ft Burro with an Element, rated at 1500. I only had a class 1 hitch, and my loaded weight was 1450.

Would I do more? No. But, if you think carefully about packing light, or buying without a "ton" of amenities (Fridge, air conditioner etc) most of the older 13s would work for you.
