seems about 1000lbs lighter than other 19' Escape weights I have heard off as well as those on the Real World Weight thread.

Found an error in the line listing luverOlife setup. Only because I was looking for those who tow a 19 ft. 5th wheel Scamp.

That's the dry weight according to specs.

Paul, I believe all the Scamp 19 listings are correct now.

As to Shannon's Escape, I've sent her a PM asking if that is the dry weight.

I generally do not correct submitted information unless I hear from the poster.

Thanks for your help.. I believe we'll gradually get it correct. Many postings have been updated and improved by the owners over time. Thank you to everyone for making it better.

Thank you for the new information.

Shannon's weight for the Escape is a dry weight. When it's weighed wet she will report but believes wet it weighs an additional 500 lbs.

Thank you all for your help.

This is a great spreadsheet, thank you Norm, for taking this on. I see that luvrOlife listed a UHaul, not a Scamp 19, so it is a typo. See quote.

Additional information for my entry: Scamp: 19D, weight: ~3000 lbs, Tacoma tow rating: 6500 lbs, Notes: Tow package, Towing speed 60 - 65, Mileage: 16.5MPG (flat Interstate), 14MPG hilly backroads of Appalachia

We just got back from Panhandle after two weeks+ of enjoying the warmth. However, well below freezing on the way down and on the way up. The Scamp got great accolades, from thumbs-up on the road, to "cute" at the campsites.

Thanks,
Paul

There's no doubt that people find our trailers cute though I'm sure they wonder how we do it. As we travel around NA people are forever stopping by for visits; they really have a hard time believing we travel for such long, extended periods.

If we weren't so sure of ourselves I'd begin to wonder if we're missing something. We all have such large living spaces that it's hard for most to imagine living a living space the size of a typical American bathroom.

Even our RV friends, mostly with larger rigs, can conceive how we fit in our 44" Scamp 16 bed or travel with minimum 'stuff'.

Thriving on change, and embracing new is a valuable skill for a full time Rver. Cute isn't it.....

Off topic but WTH, we move from a too big house filled with way too much stuff to our Lil Snoozy for five months/year. The simplicity and lack of "stuff" to take care of = Freedom! I feel like all that crap back home owns me.

We're hoping to downsize soon though, to a house a third the size of our current one. Living in the Snoozy showed us the way!

Denny,

It's really a step process. When our kids left home we went from a huge house (4000 sq feet) to our beach cottage (1500), from that to a motorhome (256) and now to a Scamp 16 (92). The Park model is a little reversalthe living space is 450 square feet and the Florida room another 400 square feet. Of course most of the year we're in our Scamp 15, cheerfully happy in the space; I suppose because we have the world to ourselves.

Update: Eggcamper towed with Subaru Outback

Here's our Eggcamper. My records show a significant gain in MPG if we kept the speed down by just 10mph.

Tow Vehicle: 2014 Subaru Outback
Engine: 2.5, 4 cyl
Trailer: 2012 Eggcamper 17' (13' box)
Trailer weight: 2350
Tongue Weight: 200
Mpg towing:16 (trailer+car with camping equip)
Mpg not towing:32 hwy. (car, no camping equip)
Typical towing speed:60-65
Misc: sway control bar, no propane, loaded lightly
Manf. Tow rating max. is 2700# total weight, 200# tongue weight

Mpg towing:21 (trailer+car with camping equip)

Both examples are with an average of 5 gallons of water total of all tanks
We put 8,400 miles on the Outback with this setup during February and March of this year, about 80% at 60-65 mph.

Thanks for the update Mark.

Speed definitely effects mpg. We only drive between 50-60, pm only faster on the Interstates.

I've been wanting to add our information for some time so finally here it is:

Tow Vehicle: 2007 Honda Ridgeline
Engine: 3.5 L, V6
Trailer: 1987 Bigfoot B17SW
Trailer weights: 2,700 lbs on axle, 298 lbs on tongue
Typical towing speed: 55-60 mph
Misc: sway bar

Sorry I don't have accurate mpg figures but we'll try to get some on our next trip - coming up soon at the end of this month!
