I will tow with a 2010 2wd Toyota Tundra Double Cab.
Due to the basic physics of levers, lengthening tongue or frame in front of the trailer axles without changing anything else will put LESS weight
on the hitch ball. It will also make the trailer MUCH MORE STABLE when towing at highway speeds. That being said that cargo compartment is not a good place to carry a lot of very heavy items. Each 100 lbs you put in that tool box will add almost that much weight to the hitch ball. You have some leeway but you could easily get too much weight on the hitch that way.
