I'd like to find a scale and weigh mine. I'm driving out from Winnipeg to Deloraine Manitoba next week, for Canada day and would like to find out the weight. Can a person just go on a highway scale made for big rigs?

I pulled my empty/gutted '82 Burro with a my '92 Toyota Tercel, when I first bought it...
I'm fairly certain the trailer was less than 1000lbs, it had no trailer brakes, no swaybar, & the frame was cracked...
I did not have much trouble, except the Tercel was a 4spd manual, with only 89hp, 93trq... So in 4th gear, I could barely reach 60mph, & hills made it impossible to go more than 45... In stock form, it's not strong enough to tow...
I sold the Tercel, last year, but I plan to buy another, & modify it for rally-racing purposes... The modification I'll be doing will make it more than capable tow vehicle, once I've restored the Burro...

I second the recommendation for trailer brakes. I tow my Scamp 16 with an '03 Honda Element, rated also at 1500 lbs. I know that the Scamp is pretty close to the max. My Element is a standard trans 5 speed; so I'm diligent about the RPM and so forth... and towing the Scamp may need a premature clutch job some day... but the brakes are an absolute necessity.
