Yup, problem is that's 2+ hours away on a sketchy set of tires at the moment. Need a local welder.

Assuming you have to pick up the axle, why not replace the tires first and get the pro's to weld the axle.

Tires, rims, axle all being delivered to me. Phoning around here today and getting a standard "minimum 4hrs" for cutting the old axle off and welding the new one on. Everyone else on teh iterwebz is stating they had it done for under 2 hours labour. I love the boom economy of Alberta...

Man, I should have opened a metal fabrication shop so I could have retired early.
