u haul axles

Would anyone know if the axles on u haul ct 13's were standard or do the dimensions change from unit to unit? I have a spare axle, probably shot, and know I could probably get better measurements from the one on the bench compared to sliding around beneath the camper. thanks mike

I'd be surprised if the axles vary from one unit to another. That said, once you custom order an axle, you own it.

I also noted when I was measuring mine that the distance from the outside of the frame to the inside of the wheel lip is very tight. UHaul used a deeply offset wheel to get around this. If you plan to use a zero offset wheel, make sure that you account for this difference in offset.

I did not replace my axle, but instead am in the process of machining hub adapters to take me from the 4 bolt UHaul / Camaro hub to a standard spindle so that I can add brakes.

Mike: At least it's much easier to experiment with on the bench rather than laying on the cold ground under the trailer. You thinking about adding brakes? Tom has a good idea, but I'm thinking there may be other options although I haven't thought about it much or even looked under the trailer. Bob

axles

Hi Bob and Mary: Hope you enjoyed your time down south. i'm not really looking to change axles but I do have the spare one we got the spare tire rims from. Thought I'd take some measurements and store them for the future.

It would be great if you posted your measurements, as this seems to be a recurring question.

Good thinking, As I type the axle is under snow, but I will post measurements.
