Weight distribution video

Here's a link to a good video of the effects of weight distribution in a trailer https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&sourc...pJkVKuxSoHEVhw

What's interesting in this one is that when the weight is moved to the rear, the trailer stays stable. It only starts to sway when it is pushed off the side. This demonstrate that a trailer may look perfectly stable until the steering wheel is jerked to avoid something, and then it's all over the place.

One thing I'd like to see the effect of, is if they would keep the same very light tongue weight but with the weights very close to the axle. I'm pretty sure the trailer wouldn't sway as badly due to reduced inertia.

So, as always, try to make the trailer as naturally stable as possible by loading to get at least 10% tongue weight, try to avoid heavy stuff far from the axle, and use an anti-sway!

Here's another similar one, with wights centered over the axle as well:

Thumbs up Good Advice

Joe, thnxs for posting such an important piece of information in an easy to understand vid/demonstration. With so many improperly set up rigs out there maybe with your post many will now be set up optimally.
