Hey everyone,

I am about to buy a new axle for my little 13ft Scamp. I was going to call Scamp today when I got to thinking if Scamp's would be the best one to buy..?? On one thought I know it will fit and have all the right spec's for the camper, but then at the same time I am thinking is there a better one out there for a better price??

So I am here asking all my fello Fiberglass RV'ers for their advice on what I should do.

Thanks for the help!

Scamp doesn't make their own axles. They're either Al-Ko or Dexter. I replaced an Al-Ko with a Dexter on my Scamp a couple of years ago because of availability. Between the two, I'm not certain there is a "best." Other's will pop in and give their two cents worth too.

Leading or trailing it does not make any difference. The arm is so short and the rubber torsion so stiff that nothing will move up or down very much.
Why not drop the issue?

I don't understand this post Jim. Are you saying he doesn't need to replace the axle? I found replacing the axle on my trailer made a huge difference in the way it towed. No more bounce, no more feeling like it was bottoming out.

Because some earlier trailers were set up for leading arms. Dexter, for one, no longer makes a leading arm axle and on some trailers the mounting must be therefore be changed because the main axle beam of a trailing arm won't fit on a "drop in" replacement. A legitimate consideration.
