Thank you I only did the outer. When I take wheel off. Will the inner bearing b easily removed? do I need to take the race need a special tool or is it as easily removed as the outer. This was first time I did one thanks again

Many people have written up great HOWTOs and / or produced video instructional guides on trailer bearing maintenance. There is nothing special about the ones on Scamps. They have Lippert or Dexter axles and bearing assemblies. I would use Google.com to find them and review them since they will (as a rule) be much more detailed and informative than the brief replies you will get here.

Also the owners manual for your axle (Dexter or Lippert) should have the process explained.

I would however caution you that some of these online guides are contradictory or just plain wrong in some aspects, so after you review a number of them, ask here to clarify anything you need to.

Buy from NAPA, e-trailer.com.. or 100 other places. Quality varies some but its hard to tell what you are buying anyway.

If you do it.. do both inner and outer. If you need to replace a bearing.. replace the races also (and thats a bit more complicated but also explained online on 100's of online sites).

No, Thank you.

I was afraid you might think I was blowing you off.. and thats not the case. In fact I am getting ready to do my own bearing repack. I have only done it a few times, so I am taking my own advice and reviewing the procedure.

Its not that hard but one reason I am reviewing it is the differing opinions on the finer points. Just one example... what is the best solvent to use to clean the old grease off the bearings? And do you really to to clean them at all or can you just force new grease in to force out the old grease? My take is that since I am using a different brand of grease , I should use a solvent (kerosene maybe, followed with brake cleaning spray) to clean them first. That also allows you to better inspect them for damage or wear.

But the worst I ever saw in an online guide was a guy who reused the cotter pin.

Never reuse the cotter pin!

Thats why you want to see the advice from different people and use your common sense.

Since you have EZ lube there are no cotter pins to concern yourself with.
Yours are 1-1/16" spindles available everywhere from Walmart to any boat or parts store. Use any good quality lithium grease.

From the Scamp page

Stump, for your reference take a look at the Scamp page.
https://www.scamptrailers.com/parts-...ning-gear.html

My '81 Scamp 13 uses the L44643 Timken Cone. Timken is about as standard as you can get.
