So...what you're sayin' is: I'm a chump- right?

Answer me this:

The maximum pressure for the tires on my car is 40 pounds. The tires can be used on many vehicle brands/types/weights besides my own. The tiremaker advises me to go by the carmaker's recommendations per pressure. My carmaker says 26 pounds, cold.

On other vehicles, pressure recommendations for the same tire will differ, never exceeding the maximum pressure allowed by the tiremaker.

If not load/weight, what (primary) factor governs the carmaker's pressure recommendation for each vehicle?

Francesca

That's what I, immersed as I am in the naivete of believing charts and graphs always to be saying one thing and meaning it, thought the bloody thing meant but NNNOOOOOO, it means something else entirely. This chump is stumped about what kind of brain creates a chart that, rather than straitforwardly trumpeting the desirable, teases about the threshold of failure. The oracle of fizzix is a tuff one to construe. I'm all tired out.

It is for max weight for the given pressure. Personally, I wouldn't play it that close. Also, depending on your speed limit, you need to adjust if you're over 65 mph, also. Unless it beats the camper to death, mine will be ran at max pressure. Experience has taught me they last much better that way. All my other trailers stay maxed all the time. I also don't have to worry about changing loads (not as big a deal on a camper).

Charts and graphs, signifying nothing. Dynamite em and be happy. Thus begins and ends today's lesson.
