Here's the original Piccolo or Ailette trailer, that the Piccolino above is copied from, being towed by a Vespa, with an interesting curved tongue that hooks onto the Vespa in the footwell - something like a fifth-wheeler!



To be fair, the 125/175 two-stroke Vespa probably has nearly the same power as the 300 four-stroke Isetta or this 200 two-stroke Bond three-wheeler towing a German Weferlinger.

My last Frog Eye (from which came my screen name) was a restored/rebuilt '6 in British Racing Green with a warmed-over '71 engine and matching tranny. I don't know how I would have attached a Reese Hitch™ to the rear of the body pan(?) but it would have pulled my Burro along with panache!

Carl... As a kid too I recall seeing one on the street in Toronto in the 50's. Even then it looked very tiny among the big cars of that era.

35 sq ft, or about twice what that Bond could pull on level ground. I'm guessing that bicycle if for "double-heading" on uphill gradients....

A few weeks ago I spotted a fiberglass egg towed behind a phone company vehicle. It was about 1/2 scale to a 16' Scamp. It could be a match for a Smartcar like vehicle. It had no windows, so would need to be camperized.

I think that those phone company eggs are just about big enough to stand and work in, but they do have an A/C unit on the roof of most and I have seen generators on the tongue of a few. Soooo.. If you are shorter than about 5" or can sleep standing up, there may be a PhoneBoothEgg in your future.

I saw one like that doing a major installation @ a strip mall in Amherst, VA about a year or so ago... it was a mobile workshop. There was standing room only for the 3 guys that were in it, along with a small workbench and a few supplies, but not much more. Looked cool, but I'm not sure what it would be good for in the camping domain, but cool nonetheless.

Yep, that's it.
Maybe install a kitchen and store a couple of coolers and a tent, and you would be set to camp minicar style.
