Actually, to book electrical sites you will have to wait until February as bookings are only allowed 6 months in advance of the dates for the booking.
Looks like this might be the year we join the group.

Any idea why the change of weekend? It's usually the first full weekend in July.

Oh Yeah!
Carol Ann, you and Roy really have to 'join the group' to really get the feel and all the fun and friendshipthat's at one of these rallys. Yeah, yeah, yeah! I know it's nice to have hydro and the other single site things but you are really out on your own. Within the group you get to meet and greet so many people and form lasting friendships. That's hard to do when you only leave your secure little site for short visits to "The Group". Come early, stay late, and join the party. We'll look forward to seeing you guys again.
Jim

I hear you Jim.

In 06 I really needed to work on our "new" trailer so we could take a big trip out east. We were not sure how the old dog would handle camping. Emily was our first meet and we didn't quite know what to expect. We experienced the group effect on the way back from out east at the PEI meet.

In 07 I still had a lot more work I needed to get done on the trailer, but we made a point of scouting preferred areas in the group sections for 08. Yet we still met lots of great people and reconnected with old friends from previous meets.

In 08 we were expecting a new pup when online site registrations became available. We decided it would be safer to get a regular site rather than potentially annoy people with a new pup that was not yet even part of our family. I did a little less work on the trailer and a little more socializing (as much as we could tolerate with our new high strung pup) and scouted the group sites while visiting.

Though we have not made any decisions for the summer of 09 as of yet, we have discussed what we would like to do. I'd really like to book off a week or so just to work on the trailer early in the season. Come new year, we'll have to pull out our calendars lay out all the "on call" schedules, conferences for work, trailer events, dog events, weddings and things we know about - then put in requests for time off. Plus we've got out of town friends that have similar circumstances we like to meet up with once or twice a year.

I presume all this would be easier [b]if we were retired. Then again, some people that I know who are retired say they have even less time than they did when they were working. YKWIM?

One day in the future when the trailer is finished it will be nice to experience what I see the rest of you doing at these meets. Will that be in 09? Who knows? I guess that fits in our wish list with the trip to the eastern seaboard, one down south, one out west ...

On edit: Forgot to mention, yes we'd like to join the group one day

Hi all,
Well, finally something on the East Coast that we may be able to attend!
A couple of questions: are dogs allowed? are reservations necessary if we were to boondock with the group?
We are really going to try to make this work!

Marjie, It is a great gig! Three or four fields ringed with "eggs"...the biggest circle being where the registration tent / trailer is and the other fields are adjacent. These are the "dry" sites (group camping) and the rangers at the gate charge a nominal amount per night...no reservations needed. This is where you can tour and visit and take pix and buy parts and sing around the bonfire and assemble for the humoungous pot-luck dinner on Saturday .
And yes, dogs are allowed.
Electric-only sites do need reservations as has been stated previously here. Emily Provincial Park is a beautiful wooded campground with a small beach and river access for canoeing.
If you visit us, be sure to take the time to visit nearby Peterborough...home to the largest hydraulic lift locks in the world..still working after a hundred years! Also Wed & Sat nites in Peterborough- along the lake that is in the centre of the town- there are free outdoor concerts all summer long..each ending with a fireworks display over the lake.
Last year there were over 100 eggs ...and several of our American friends joined us...many of them repeat Emily visitors. Visit the BOLERAMA website and see videos of the past few meets.
Gas will cost you more, but if things don't change you should get about a buck and a quarter Canadian for your greenback
Happy camping
Alistair

I thought they always chose the weekend after the American long weekend in July because of lower demand for reserved sites etc. Logic being that sometimes both Canada day and the 4th of July occasionaly fall on the same weekend.

Hi: All... The park locator is Visit My Website Fred told me of the "slight change" to the date to July 10-12th. but didn't say why??? Boondocking sites are avail at the gate. Mention Bolerama and they will direct you to the areas. Electric hookups (6 mo. in advance) are avail by reservations only ( they do keep some on a no reserve basis) and the Hill Campground is closest to the main site!!! Keep in mind that last year there were aprox 110 trailers along with owners& pets in attendance.
