Sharen, are there any good places nearby for chowder?
As to the discussion about group vs individual crampsites... Let me say what happened to me. I took a look at the images with all the gravel and the squeezed in shoulder-to-shoulder sites, and it turned me off. That said, after reading Donna's encouraging remarks and looking more closely at the group pavilion, I'd be willing to give it a try sometime. Surely the covered pavilion would be nice in bad weather.

Still, one of the most compelling reasons that Simon and I go camping is to enjoy beautiful natural settings, and these individual crampsites look very appealing.

I think it's good that we will all be able to take a walk over to the group site and if the group feels compelled to camp that way sometime, surely we can plan on that.

Cheers all,
Sharen

Sounds like things are shaping up pretty good for our 2nd Annual event.

Thank you Donna, for putting a link to this thread on the other (Casita) forum for me.
I should have done that when I posted it.

At least I have someone looking out for me!

Unhappy

I was ready to sign up but my spouse, who is a good control for my enthusiasm, pointed out:

1. We don't even have a trailer yet.

2. We are supposed to get some out of country guests next year and have no idea when they are coming.

3. We are already signed up for the Oregon April thing. (I slipped that one through)

4. We are going to visit our son in Hawaii.

So we have to see. Will contact our Argentinian friends to see if and when they are coming.

Roger

I'll have to try to drive down one day and visit even though it is not a good weekend for a trip for me. (A one day trip without packing or trailer I can handle.) Though I think it is probably about 3 hrs- does that sound right, Sharen? Have you been there before?

See what MapQuest says hour-wise for your trip Bobbie.. I've found it to be pretty accurate when doing the speed limits. From my home in Portland, Oregon to the park is 1 hr 58 minutes. Even though I've never been to this particular park, I bet that information is dang close.

This is the park address:
110 Taidnapam Park E
Glenoma, WA

In Lewis County.

Mapquest says 2 hrs from Mukilteo to Glenoma but of course doesn't say anything about roads into the campground so I added 30 minutes for traffic and slower roads. Plus the ferry and driving from home to ferry adds a minimum of 30 minutes (could be more.) (Mapquest won't estimate ferries correctly.)

the park is actually between Glenoma and Morton.. when you go thru Morton about 5 miles past you will go under a tall RR tressel... right after that you will see the sign to the park ... ( take a right on Kosmo Rd) then take a left to go to the park.. its about 4 miles... its in the boonies...lol.....Very pretty setting and a very nice park..

Taidnapam is a new park for us, so I'd go with whatever Mapquest says. Simon and I like to get off the Interstate when we can and do some of the scenic roads. I'm glad to hear from Christi that the area is lovely - and in early June we'll be enjoying the full blush of Spring (I hope!). As for those ferry lines Bobbie, yes, they are somewhat unpredictable and we count ourselves lucky that they are still running at all! LOL Meantime, our lil Casita sits lonely in our woods...

Welcome aboard Steve and Sue.

I'm sure that you'll find our group to be a lot of fun. There's a lot of good information on all the various fiberglass websites, and hopefully you will enjoy "surfing" through them. This will be our second annual WA State get together. Our first was on the coast at Grayland Beach State Park. I'm sure, if you're like most of us, you'll find that half the fun of attending these events is the opportunity to wander around and see what others have done with, and to, their rigs. A lot of handy, convenient and innovative modifications abound. We always come away with a list of projects and modifications to do when we get home after attending these rallies. I'm sure that you folks will have a good time.
