Didn't even realize this existed til someone posted about it in the spring one! I think we just snagged the last open site(?), we'll be in A61 by the yurts in the hinterlands from Friday night through Sunday checkout.

Hi Hillary, work is being done about opening B loop for reservations. STAND BY. We're glad you could join us. It's not so bad being by the Yurts... you'll bring your lawn chairs and hang out with the rest of us most time anyway!

I'll update everything... probably tomorrow

For the less initiated, there are TWO NOGS... Spring and Fall!

Our very own Barbara B. did EVERYTHING she could to convince the parks people and ReserveAmerica to open B loop to reservation... no joy! (Barbara lives in Manzanita and went personally to the park)

THANKS Barbara for your effort, truly

THAT SAID, if you need to CANCEL... please, please, please post the info on this thread. We have a wait list.

HOWEVER, B loop IS open for first come, first serve and the park is HUGE.

When I called the park today they said B & C will be open for first come first serve.

Any plans for site B35? I considered taking it if we get out there....but I think the campfire smoke would bother me. I think the wind comes from the north that time of year? I wonder if the site would remain empty if we don't fill it, seems like it would be a good site for folks spilling over?

Nancy. Wind comes from the west and south and north and swirls around. Nehalem Bay State Park is on the beach. The park itself is a bit sheltered by a sand dune. The folks with sites along the edge have sites backed into the dune.

I don't know how sensitive you are to wood smoke... but I'll have a fire going in my site Friday and Saturday night. We always have a fire in the NOG tub.... which when it gets burning, is relatively smoke free. The map doesn't really show it, but there is quite a bit of space between B35 and my site A14.

Hope to see you there!

Space available for nehalem

We have had to change our plans and we have space A 15 reserved and will not be attending. Is there anyone on the forum that is looking for a space and wants to take it over for the cost before I cancel it with the Oregon State Park system? If you do private email me and we will take care of it. The reservation arriving Friday. October 11 and leaving Sunday, October 13th, 2013.

Cancelling A-35

As they say, life can get in the way when you want to play, so we are very sorry to have to cancel A-35 from 10/9 - 10/13 due to some health issues.
If it works out, we would like to visit on Saturday as we did during the last NOG at Nehalem since it is so close to home. We miss seeing our Fiberglass friends!

I want to attend...Not sure how it works but I'm interested in this spot if available. Otherwise, I just need to secure a spot. I'll get on the board later to see how to do this.

Thanks for any help to secure one. -V

Talking

LOL...Cari told me today "No More Beach Camping!" . . .
we just spent the morning cleaning out all the sand in the van and trailer after our trip to Cape Disappointment State Park on the Washington coast.

Somehow i'll have to figure out a beach-sand-door-mat for our trip to the Fall NOG.

I will be calling the campground during business hours tomorrow to see if there are any openings (it does not appear that there are on the website). My question to those of you who have been there before is this: If I'm not able to make a reservation, would you anticipate that we could get an unreserved spot in the campground if we don't arrive until Friday night? (Between A, B and C loops, there are a lot of sites; I have no idea how full the campground will be in mid-October.)

We had a last-minute change in work schedules that make it possible for us to try to make this trip happen!!

I have no particular info on the park we will be holding the NOG, yet i can state that my wife's and my experience with 20+ years of living on the north-oregon coast is that typically our best weather is in September/October. And i can tell you that the "Snow Birds" have yet to head south for the winter! Our area (Astoria/Seaside) is still wall-to-wall tourists ( i just wish they would remember to bring their manners with them when they come visit!!!!)

Sheryl, the park is huge. I'm betting there will sites available if you come in on Friday. But, like in life... there are no guarantees!

You might check with Vivian to see if she's already cancelled her site...

If I can get my new (to me) trailer in time, I want to bring down for the last camping of the year. I just need to work out the logistics.

Hope you can make it Jim. It will also be the last camping trip for me. Then it's time to winterize and hunker down for the rainy/cold winter.
