Annual Lighthouse Festival, June 13-15, 2014

Festival goers can choose from 11 intriguing land or water tours, including:
Trolley Lighthouse Tour: The six-hour trolley tour is an easy way to visit five significant Door County lighthouses – Eagle Bluff Lighthouse, Cana Island Lighthouse, Baileys Harbor Range Lights, Sherwood Point Lighthouse and Sturgeon Bay Canal Station.
Evening Ghost Tour: Hear haunted lighthouse tales and learn about other Door County locations that are thought to be haunted or have had mysterious happenings. The tour includes trolley stops at the Sherwood Point Lighthouse and Sturgeon Bay Canal Station lights.
Baileys Harbor Lighthouse Tour: Enjoy a two-hour narrated cruise with spectacular water views of Baileys Harbor Range Lights, the Old Baileys Harbor Light and Cana Island Lighthouse.
Island Clipper Tour: This popular cruise is a six-hour voyage through Death’s Door Strait, which is said to have the most fresh water shipwrecks in the world, and into Michigan waters. The cruise includes a stop at Rock Island for a mile-long hike to Pottawatomie Lighthouse, Wisconsin’s oldest light. Plus, along the way, you’ll pass Poverty and St. Martin Islands, the Plum Island lights and the Pilot Island Lighthouse. And much more. See this link

Take the "tony" off and it works better:

Door County Beer Festival - Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin

I may have to go. I (modestly. Right) admit my Pat's Porter was #1 in the AHA US competition back in the day. My IPA was #2 the year before.

Still cool in Egg Harbor

The weather continues cool in Door county:60s for highs, 40s-50s for lows. So be advised. Our FG friends in the Southwest probably can't believe that.
We are finalizing our prep work and look forward to next week. Thanks to Kathy Dalby for her work on our google site.

I had been telling my daughter-in-law that she had to have her baby before we left this Friday, and she did! Yesterday morning at 4:31am Tessa Marie came into the world, and we got to meet her last night. This is grandchild #2.

Bring your repellent of choice

Be advised that mosquitoes are plentiful in Door county this year. The campground does spray, but be prepared to use repellent as well. Last trailer count is 47, with 5 brands, although mostly Scamp and Casita.
Looks like we have 10 states, and Luc from Manitoba represented.
The countdown has begun.

Construction around Green Bay

Going to Egg Harbor from the east may be difficult because of construction, this would effect you if you plan on using Hwy 29.
Here is an alternative route suggested by a local resident: (See attachment below)

I also talked the campground and Mike was unaware of any problem with the alternative route: North on Hwy 42,east on I-43,then connecting to Hwys 54/57 east of the city. We will update this on Sunday night when we will be traveling through the area.

We're a getting there...raining in dodgeville (I think that's where we are). House on the rock tomorrow or maybe Taliesin. Had to spend a couple of days in Pella, Iowa, eating dutch pasteries. We can certainly make a 900 mile trip into an eating and sightseeing adventure. Heading north to egg harbor, slowly. Coolness feels good.

Imogene,

I hope you get to House on the Rock. Been there a couple of times, it is so much fun.

Glad you are enjoying your trip.

As Nancy says The House on the Rock is fun, but if architecture is what you want we would recommend Taliesin.
We can report about 57 trailers for the rally (5 brands). Many new-to-us folks (30). Cool weather continues (60s/50s),possible rain midweek. Seems the forecast has changed a lot the last few days as far as precipitation.
Bring your mosquito repellent, although the low temps will tamp them down. The main thing is to get there and back safely.

Road construction

Coming from the west on Hy 29, do not try to take US 41 north - much construction and BAD congestion. Take US41 south to the beltway, instead. There's construction all over Green Bay, but US41 north is bad, bad, bad.

I am sorry we had to cancel our reservation last week and so we won't be at the rally this week. I hate we are missing this fun rally.
